The year began on a high note for Norway\u2019s FPGA community as professionals from across industry and academia gathered in Trondheim for the annual FPGA Forum<\/a>. Over two intensive days, engineers, project managers, technical leaders, researchers, students, and major technology vendors came together to explore how FPGA development continues to evolve\u2014from hands-on methodologies to cutting\u2011edge research and practical deployment in real-world scenarios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

True to its reputation, the forum struck a balance between theory and practice. The presentations ranged from sharing hard-earned experience from real-world projects to various technical discussions on verification, security and new technologies. The exhibition floor offered a chance to explore tools and technologies from leading suppliers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FPGAs sits at the core of many of EIDEL\u2019s solutions, and this at this year’s Forum, we contributed with two presentations. Sindre<\/a> presented his experiences using cocotb<\/a> for the last 1.5 years, highlighting how the python-based framework can improve the verification process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forum concluded with Sylvain<\/a>‘s keynote focused on relying purely on FPGA-based design omitting the use of embedded CPUs or Microcontrollers and demonstrated that such designs yield high reliability, predictability and robustness in mission critical applications. The presentation underscored how modern design and verification practices make such approaches not only viable, but increasingly attractive for high-reliability and -assurance systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FPGA Forum<\/a> remains a yearly focal point for Norway\u2019s FPGA expertise, and EIDEL is thankful for the opportunity to contribute and participate at this year’s event!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
